YEGarden Suites' is run by Ashley Salvador & Travis Fong, two Edmontonians who are passionate about building healthy & inclusive cities.
Ashley Salvador
Co-founder & President
Ashley has conducted extensive research on laneway housing, including the first-ever comprehensive study on Garage/Garden Suites in Edmonton. She is involved in Edmonton's infill community and specializes in the social and relational aspects of our built environment. Born and raised in Edmonton, Ashley completed a BA Honours in Sustainability and Sociology from Dalhousie University and is currently pursuing a MA Planning at the University of Waterloo.

Joyce McBean
Event Support
Joyce has extensive experience in public consultation and group facilitation. She has lead multiple provincial projects and initiatives related to public health and safety. She grew up in Calgary (but has since been converted to an Edmontonian) and has a degree in Psychology from the University of Calgary. Joyce brings a wealth of experience to YEGarden Suites, providing advise on communications, outreach, branding, and strategy.
aminu bello
Event Support
Aminu is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) who brings a mixed background in land use planning as a Land Planner with the Government of Alberta, and previously a Project Planner with IBI Group. Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Aminu moved to Edmonton in 2012. He is a graduate of McMaster University's Geography Program (BA Honours),
complimented with a diploma in Urban & Regional Planning Technology from Mohawk College in Hamilton.
Jonathan Lawrence
Event Support
Jonathan graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA in Urban & Regional Planning in 2016. Since graduating, he has gained diverse planning experience, as well as communications and marketing experience. Currently, Jonathan works with the Edmonton Construction Association as their marketing and communications coordinator. He has also worked as a planner with Pario Plan Inc. and as a project manager for the City of Edmonton.
Shelby
Administrative Assistant
Shelby is an experienced administrative assistant and has been with YEGarden Suites since the beginning. She is very agile and great at retrieving information. As you can see, her lack of thumbs do not compromise her ability to use an iPad or read through documents. She keeps us on track with hourly reminders to snack, walk, play, or nap. One smart pup.
Travis Fong
Co-founder & Vice-Chair
Travis has worked on development projects including affordable seniors housing and renewable energy. Travis' passion for economics led him to study the efficiency and growth of cities as part of an honours thesis. Originally from Halifax, Travis moved to Edmonton after graduating from Dalhousie University with a BA Honours in Sustainability and Political Science, with a minor in Economics. Travis is currently pursuing a MA Economics at the University of Waterloo.
